Community in Action: Events We’ve Powered with Purpose

The Hadnott Foundation has proudly joined forces with community partners through a variety of meaningful events. From sharing resources and raising awareness to promoting self-care and wellness, we’ve contributed our time and expertise to support our shared mission. Below are some highlights and images that showcase the impact we’ve made together.

Self Care Day - Hackensack, NJ September 7th 2025

We had such a great time joining the City of Hackensack and the Hackensack Municipal Alliance for this amazing community wellness event! The Hadnott Foundation was proud to sponsor and share resources on breast cancer awareness, cancer screenings, and prevention. We also connected self-care to cancer prevention, talking about the importance of stress management and healthy lifestyle choices. From African dance to health screenings and even a calming sound bowl session, the day was full of energy, culture, and care — a true reminder that wellness is powerful when we practice it together.

Grief & Healing Workshop — Hackensack, NJ | May 18, 2025

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Hadnott Foundation partnered with Broreavement to host a powerful Grief & Healing Workshop. Together with Hackensack Meridian Health and the John Theurer Cancer Center, we created a safe and supportive space for open conversation, reflection, and connection.

Therapists Don and Rolanda guided meaningful discussions, while Judith from Rock Collage opened with grounding meditation and closed with a beautiful healing sound bath. The New Bridge Recovery Center team also joined us, adding valuable support and resources.

This day was about healing on purpose—reminding us all that caring for our mental health is essential for our overall well-being. our mental health matters—your body is listening.

Long-term stress and unresolved grief can harm your immune system and cause inflammation, which might increase your risk of cancer. And we appreciate Heather Derry-Vick, Ph.D.,, a health psychologist that led the discussion and shared tips for improvement.

A Family Affair: Mental Wellness — Teaneck, NJ | May 17, 2025

The Hadnott Foundation was proud to serve as a corporate sponsor of A Family Affair: Mental Wellness, presented by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Iota Epsilon Omega Chapter, at Fairleigh Dickinson University. This inspiring community event celebrated Mental Health Awareness Month with a day full of healing, education, and joy.

We contributed by sharing resources on cancer prevention, highlighting the connection between chronic stress, mental health, and cancer risk. Stress isn’t just emotional — it can weaken the immune system and increase inflammation, raising cancer risk. That’s why self-care is prevention. 💚

As part of our commitment, we also distributed free Warrior Tees to attendees and captured event highlights through Noir Photography Studios, where we were honored to serve as the official event photographer. From yoga and meditation to therapy insights and family-friendly fun, it was a powerful reminder that wellness is about mind, body, and spirit.

Bergen County Links, Inc. Mother’s Day Scholarship Luncheon Garfield, NJ | May 3, 2025

For nearly two decades, the Hadnott family has proudly honored the legacy of Earlene Hampton Hadnot through our annual scholarship, awarded at the Bergen County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated’s signature Mother’s Day Luncheon. This year’s celebration at The Venetian in Garfield was nothing short of extraordinary.

We were thrilled to present the Earlene Hampton Hadnot Scholarship to Chelsea Ruff of Teaneck High School — a moment made even more special when we realized Danielle had gone to high school with Chelsea’s mother. Surprises like these remind us of the deep roots and connections in our community.

The afternoon was filled with elegance and joy: stunning hats, a luxury silent auction, delicious food, and plenty of dancing. We were also honored to join other families in celebrating outstanding students and community leaders, while recognizing the Bergen County Links for their continued dedication to education and service.

As always, the Hadnott Foundation came together as a family — board members, relatives, and friends — to uplift the next generation and keep Earlene’s legacy alive.

“Investing in our youth is the greatest legacy we can leave.”

It was a beautiful day of tradition, scholarship, and community pride.
